Official: Maritzburg Make Maduka Decision

Maritzburg have officially confirmed that head coach John Maduka has been sacked.

The Team of Choice have fallen to 16th on the log after failing to win any of their last six matches, with the 5-0 thumping by Mamelodi Sundowns and a 2-0 against Golden Arrows ahead of the FIFA World Cup break the latest low points.

As a consequence, the club have made the decision to relieve Maduka of his duties despite being just 13 games in charge, as already reported by iDiski Times on Monday.

“MUFC can confirm that Head Coach John Maduka has left the club with immediate effect,” the club said via a statement on Thursday morning.

“The Club have also terminated the contracts of Maduka’s entire back room staff. We would like to thank John and his technical team for their efforts and wish them well for the future.

“The process of identifying and appointing a New Head is underway and the club will make an announcement in due course.”

Out of the 13 games under Maduka, Maritzburg won just two, drawing five and losing six – with four of those defeats coming in the last six matches.

Maduka had joined the club in the beginning of the season after parting ways with Royal AM. He replaced Ernst Middendorp, who was let go by the Team of the Choice because they wanted to enter higher spheres on the log and not fight against relegation again.
