Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland believes Senegal will be the African team that goes the furthest at the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Haaland, 22, has had a standout campaign so far, scoring 22 goals in just 16 games since joining Manchester City ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

However, Haaland himself will just be a spectator at the upcoming World Cup, as his Norway side failed to qualify.

The star striker was now asked, which of the five African teams he expects to go the furthest and predicted Africa Cup of Nations winners Senegal to carry to the continent.

“I think Senegal, I think Senegal will do really well,” he said in a recent interview.

“They are a strong and they have so many strong players.

“I think Senegal will do the best out of those [five African teams].”

Senegal have been drawn in Group A alongside Netherlands, Ecuador and hosts Qatar. The other four African representatives are Tunisia, Ghana, Morocco and Cameroon.

Tunisia will battle France, Denmark and Australia in Group D, while Cameroon will have to take on Brazil, Serbia and Switzerland in one of the toughest groups at the tournament.

Morocco will face Belgium, Canada and Croatia in Group F, while Ghana will take on Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea in Group H.
