Monare Provides Update On Return

Orlando Pirates midfielder Thabang Monare says ‘it’s looking good’ for his return to action after being ruled out through injury over the last few weeks.

Monare, 33, has featured just five times for the club this season before injury struck but he’s since returned to training over the last week as he looks to get himself back to full fitness.

He’s unlikely to be thrown into the starting eleven at this stage with Miguel Timm since returning from suspension in time for the MTN8 final but Monare says he’s seen enough to suggest the squad has what it takes to have a memorable 2022/23 campaign.

“I’ve started doing partial training with the team and yeah, it’s looking good,” Monare said at Rand Stadium this week before opening up on their inconsistencies.

“You always want to be part of the team, but the team has quality – it has everything it needs at this point in time, so it’s just a matter of focusing on recovery, supporting the team and the rest will take care of itself.

“In this project, we also require time and be allowed to grow as a team, yes we’re in a final but we can’t forget that we’re still in a process that requires time and patience that requires hard work.”

Pirates face off against AmaZulu at a sold-out Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday for the first domestic trophy on offer for the season.
