Why the 2010 stadium is special |

Moses Mabhida Stadium manager Vusi Mazibuko believes their ability to attract corporates is their secret to getting big games in every season.

The 70 000 seat stadium will host the MTN8 final on the 5th of November, a game that is one of the most anticipated fixtures before the World Cup finals.

Questions have been asked why the Durban facility has become the home of most PSL finals, with other provinces feeling hard done.

IMPRESSIVE STRATEGY

However, according to Mazibuko, their impressive strategy of attracting the football authority has been a cut above the rest.

“We would like to thank the Premier Soccer League for trusting us with another MTN8 final,” Mazibuko told FARPost.

“As you know, this will be the sixth final at Moses Mabhida. It shows that we are trusted and always deliver in big games.”

There has been considerable debate about the venue hosting too many finals, as they are the leading stadium to host many finals in South Africa since 2010.

MOSES MABHIDA’S LOCATION

The stadium manager revealed how their location had made them natural favourites to host big games.

“There are few things, but what we can say is that Durban is a natural capital city. You cannot take that away from us. It is very easy to access the Stadium,” he added.

“There are no delays because we have so many activities around the venue.”

“Transportation-wise, it is so easy to access Durban. Coming to Moses Mabhida Stadium makes business sense for many companies, the league, sponsors, and the whole city.

FAN EXPERIENCE

“The most important point is we give fans experience, with so many activities. Sponsors can easily do their activations without stress because we have a vast open space.

“We do not wait for an announcement. Once the league releases their fixtures, we always plan to be available. We always target big games from the beginning of the season.

“We do not wait for last minutes proposals; we are always ready to host big games.”
