Riveiro Talks Bucs Goalkeepers Ahead Of MTN8 Final

Orlando Pirates coach has kept the cards close to his chest as to which of his goalkeepers will start in the MTN8 final after Siyabonga Mpontshane was selected in the recent Soweto Derby.

Mpontshane was picked ahead of Pirates usual No.1 Richard Ofori, who recently recovered from an injury in his side’s October clash with AmaZulu.

Mpontshane has only conceded one goal since replacing Ofori between the sticks and prevented Ashley Du Preez with two great saves in the first half of the derby, before being caught off his line by Yusuf Maart’s longe-range goal.

However, Riveiro didn’t want to comment on which of his keepers will start the MTN8 final at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday, saying the technical team will make a decision later in the week.

“I have four keepers in the squad,”

“Kopano [Thuntsane], Sipho [Chaine], Siyabonga and Richard. All of them are going to train this week, as usually and in the end of the week we have to make a decision of which one is going to be the right one to play this game.”

Ofori featured in 12 games this season, keeping six clean sheets, while Mpontshane has kept three clean sheets in his four outings so far.
