Zwane On Du Preez’s Misses

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has praised Ashley Du Preez for his overall display despite his two huge misses in the Soweto Derby.

Du Preez, 25, could’ve given his side a comfortable lead in the first half, finding himself in two one-vs-one situation with Siyabonga Mpontshane, but the Orlando Pirates came out tops both times.

However, Zwane has insisted that overall Du Preez had a good game, helping the team to execute their game-plan.

“Apart from the chances that he missed, he had a good game,” Zwane told journalists.

“When we were defending, he was part of the team, he helped us. Like I said the plan was to force Pirates to go out wide and we forced them obvious to play there where we know we’ll trap them and when we regain possession they have to deal with us.

“We got the speed and we just changed the point of attack quickly. Though, we did not do it quite often but when you look at the way he performed, apart from the chances, I think he did very well.

“Unfortunately he ran out of steam as well and we had to substitute him, but he did very well.”

“This is a game of mistakes and we will get it right. I have no doubt about it. One day we’ll score three we’ll be happy, one day we’ll score two we’ll be happy.

“So at the moment I think it’s part of the game where we have to understand all the chances that he gets is because he gets into the areas at the right time. Unfortunately he didn’t convert them, but next time he’ll take them and we’ll all be happy and I’m happy for him, especially with his performance.

“We’ll fix the finishing as time goes on.”
