Sekhukhune ‘In Talks’ With Tembo Replacement

Sekhukhune United have started their search for a new coach and the club is talking to Brandon Truter, according to the iDiski Times sources.

Sekhukhune confirmed the departure of coach Kaitano Tembo on Tuesday after a poor string of results which sees the Limpopo club languishing in the bottom part of the table.

The club lies second from bottom with 11 points after 12 matches, level on points with bottom side Maritzburg United.

The Pietermaritzburg-based club have sacked their coach John Maduka, but what is missing is for them to release an official statement – something Sekhukhune has already done and also started talking to Truter, this publication understands.

“Truter might join Sekhukhune. They are talking to him as we speak,” said the insider.

Truter is currently without a club after he parted ways with AmaZulu recently following some unsatisfactory results with the Durban-based side as well as personal reasons.

He has since been replaced by Romain Folz, who was previously the coach of Marumo Gallants at the beginning of the season.

In fact, Truter came close to joining Sekhukhune late last season before he replaced Benni McCarthy at AmaZulu on the caretaker basis in March.

He had agreed to everything with Sekhukhune, but when the Usuthu chance came up, he left the talks and went to take over at AmaZulu.

This was also confirmed by McDonald Makhubedu, who was the co-coach at Sekhukhune at the time. Then Sekhukhune opted to go with the experienced campaigner, Owen da Gama, but he left again at the end of the campaign.

Then Sekhukhune appointed Tembo as their coach during the off season after he was released by SuperSport United in April.

iDiski Times has also learnt that Sekhukhune want Stanley Nkoana, who was at the club before, back from Baroka FC. Nkoana is currently the assistant coach at Bakgaga in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
