AmaZulu coach Romain Folz says he was not concerned by failing to register a win all along, with his main focus improving Usuthu and winning trophies.

Folz will have a chance to win his first trophy on South African soil when he guides his side against Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 final on Saturday.

FIRST WIN

The final comes just days after he picked his first victory after they defeated Stellenbosch FC 1-0 on Sunday in the DStv Premiership. It was Folz’s first win in 10 matches in all competitions.

Before joining the KZN side, Folz had a stint with another league outfit Marumo Gallants.

“I told all of your colleagues [journalists] in the past that it was just a matter of time. Of course, the sooner, the better. I know it was about to happen at some time for sure,” Folz told the media.

“Everyone gave his best. I think we were good. The understanding of the tactical principles is on them to execute in getting better and better, game after game.

“I think it’s a well-deserved win, we had a good game that will be analysed to get better. I think it’s a good performance on the tactical aspect of the work rate.”

Despite the victory, Folz further stated that pressure is still on him. “I wouldn’t say it’s a relief in terms of pressure, it’s about time [to win]. I’m happy about that,” Folz added.

The slender win took AmaZulu to seventh on the log standings with 17 points from 13 matches, whilst The Stellies are in the bottom half positioned 10 with 14 points from 13 matches as well.

With the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar approaching, the league will take a two months break. However, for Usuthu, they got one me important match, the MTN8 Final against Soweto giants Orlando Pirates.

Kickoff on Saturday, 5th November is at 6pm.
