Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has credited their six consecutive DStv Premiership wins before the 2022 FIFA World Cup break to team work.
Mokwena was appointed sole head coach after a run of ‘unconvincing’ performances at the back of their 3-0 MTN8 exit at the hands of Orlando Pirates this month.
And it’s followed by 5-0 and 3-0 wins over Maritzburg United and Royal AM respectively, which leaves Masandawana at the summit of the table at the halfway point of the campaign.
“Teamwork, no one is bigger than this football club, we just trying to serve it,” Mokwena said when asked how they achieved their six-match winning streak in the league.
“When you are servants you forget about yourself and the results and you just continue to serve and that’s what we’re trying to do, as the technical team, we’re pure football servants that live, eat, and breathe this game.
“We try to do the best we can, the football players are servants of this football club and we’re all set to try and fetch the order, which is three points. Incredible salute and appreciation of this incredible group of players.”
Masandawana will now take part in the Black Label Cup, where they open the tournament against AmaZulu and await Kaizer Chiefs or Pirates in the final.
