A look at South African stars nominated for the 48th Peoples Choice Awards

The Peoples Choice Awards has finally revealed a list of their nominations for this year’s 48th Choice Awards.

The 2022 list includes several nominees from South Africa. The African Social Media Category aims to highlight and recognise some of the most influential voices on the African continent.

Heavyweight entertainer Khanyi Mbau, upcoming actress Ama Qamata, controversial businesswoman MaMkhize and digital content creator Sphokuhle Ntshalintshali were nominated for a Peoples Choice Award under the African Social Media category.

The awards ceremony will be held on the 6th of December 2022 and broadcast live from Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.

Khanyi Mbau

Since she hit her jackpot in the entertainment industry, the outspoken Khanyi has impressed many with her prowess. She rose to fame in 2004 after being cast as Lindiwe Chibi’s replacement for the character Doobsie in Muvhango. Mbau fried Mzansi with her acting skills, winning tonnes of hearts. She has been featured in several television roles throughout her career, and she also runs her reality show Mbau Reloaded, where she flaunts her lavish lifestyle.

MaMkhize

Shauwn Mkhize is a celebrated business mogul, cum actress and media personality known for her luxurious lifestyle and spending spree. She has several businesses, including Zikhulise Maintenance and Transport, Zikhulise Auto Recoveries and Inyanga Trading. She also owns the South African football club, Royal AM Football Club.

Ama Qamata

Many people call her Puleng, and some call her Buhle, but her real name is  Amamkele Qamata. She is a young and talented South African actress who has already made an impressive run in the television and film industry. Amamkele Qamata is famous for playing the lead role (of Puleng) in Netflix’s ‘Blood and Water’. She is also known for nailing the character of Buhle on the hit telenovela Gomora.

Sphokuhle Ntshalintshali

She is a South African Tiktok star sensation who has acquired conspicuousness in the web-based media stage in the wake of posting a few intriguing and clever recordings on her Tiktok account, which has more than 940 adherents on it. She bagged her first acting role on House of Zwide, where she plays the character of Yenzi. Yenzi appeared on the House of Zwide as one of the contestants of the face of House of Zwide.
