Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has revealed his prediction for the Soweto Derby, saying he believes the Amakhosi will win, even though they won’t play beautiful football.
The player-turned-pundit will again analyse the game for iDiskiTV but spoke to this website as part of the build-up to the eagerly awaited clash.
Chiefs, though, enter the game on the back of three games without defeat, while Pirates are on a high after back-to-back wins, including their 3-0 victory of Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 semi-final second leg.
With many saying, ‘form goes out of the window ahead of the derby’, Khanye also believes that Amakhosi could collect the bragging rights on Saturday.
“I know a lot of people will be shocked with what I’m going to say now, I think Chiefs will win this game,” he told iDiski Times.

“Chiefs will win this game or it’s going to be a draw. Stats in the derby are not working! Chiefs need to prove a point, they will want to prove a point.
“There is a possibility of 0-0, not even 1-1.
“Kaizer Chiefs will go into this game and play bad, they’re not going to play beautiful football. But the defense of Orlando Pirates as well, I’m still questioning it.
“For me, I see Chiefs winning this game, not by playing beautiful football. If they win, they’re going to win 1-0 or it’s going to be a draw 1-1 or 0-0 – simple.
“Stats [and form], we can’t rely on, especially in the derby.”
Chiefs have won the last three derbies against Pirates, and could secure back-to-back league doubles over their bitter rivals for the first time since 1991 and 1992.
