Asavela Mqokiyana opens up about her divorce on ‘The Mommy Diaries’

Actress and content creator Asavela Mqokiyana has spoken candidly about her divorce, nearly a year after it made headlines.

The former Isibaya and Abomama star sat down with Scandal! actress Mapaseka Koetle on her podcast, The Mommy Diaries, where she reflected on her journey through motherhood, marriage, and heartbreak.

The Uzalo actress, who plays Nurse Sizakele on the soapie, revealed that her marriage to Vuyisa Mqokiyana ended when their daughter was only six months old.

Her divorce first caught public attention in September 2024, when she shared photos dressed in black after leaving court, sparking widespread speculation.

In the newly released interview, posted on Instagram on Sunday, 17 August 2025, Koetle described the episode as an honest and unfiltered conversation.

“On this episode of Mommy Diaries, I sit down with actress @asavela__m. We talk about motherhood, her career, her divorce, and how she chooses to handle social media when the negativity comes her way. Real, raw, and honest, just the way we love it,” read the podcast’s caption.
