AmaZulu President – Pirates Fans Will Sleep Without Eating

Published

on

AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu has given Orlando Pirates “absolutely” no chance of beating his side in the MTN8 final on 5 November at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Zungu has warned Pirates fans to eat early before the match because they won’t enjoy their supper after the match day because Usuthu would have been crowned victorious, leaving the Bucs fans in despair.

Usuthu reached their second final in the PSL, overcoming Kaizer Chiefs 1-1 on aggregate over the weekend in the MTN8 semi final.

Zungu wants to join Golden Arrows to become the second team from KwaZulu-Natal to win this competition, with Arrows having won it in 2009 when they crushed Ajax Cape Town 6-0 then.

“There will be disappointment on that day from Pirates fans because many of them will sleep without eating,” warned Zungu.

“There will be a lot of despair. This will go down in history because this year is the year where King Misuzulu Sinqobile kaZwelithini will celebrate his coronation [at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday].

“Then on the 5 November, history will be made in Durban on that day by AmaZulu.”

If Usuthu do beat Pirates in the final, it will be the first time they have defeated the Soweto giants since the Zungus took the ownership of the club in October 2020.

In the last six matches, Usuthu have lost three and drawn three. To make matters worse, coach Romain Folz is yet to win for AmaZulu in four matches in charge.

In fact, Usuthu are without a win in nine matches in all competitions, with the club’s last victory coming against Cape Town City in the Wafa Wafa Cup quarter-final in August. The oldest club in the PSL will next host Stellenbosch FC at King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday (15:30).

This game was moved to Umlazi as Moses Mabhida Stadium is not available due to Misizulu’s coronation at the 2010 World Cup finals venue.

Zungu has been unhappy with the standard of officiating, calling it atrocious. He said he feared the worst ahead of the second leg semi-final against Chiefs, who were previously known as the cup kings.

“I was nervous against Chiefs, I can’t lie,” admitted Zungu.

“It was nerve wracking because if you saw the last three matches – Chiefs first leg at FNB Stadium, I was not happy. When Veluyeke Xulu was sent off, it was not a red card. I don’t want to talk about the other red cards, it was red cards everywhere [by Victor Gomes] against us.

“Number two, against Maritzburg United, they were questionable decisions that I was not happy about. Then there was that against Pirates in the league, we were blatantly robbed – we were denied a goal, we were not given a penalty, I’ve never seen such before. Against the Chiefs, I was nervous if they would handle this game. So I’m not happy.”
