It was more than epic. In the video, fans could make it rain whilst appreciating him with some love. DJ Sbu was more than grateful. He has it that he intends to turn the dollars into billions.

“It’s a different feeling to be thrown ngaMaDollar. I receive them all with God’s grace and humility. It’s a good sign for the future. I promise to turn them into billions of dollars,” he wrote.

“May all that money multiply where it all came from. May it also multiply to every person reading this caption? Keep pushing your dreams.”

DJ Sbu was also honoured at the gig as he was given his flowers. However, it’s not the same story back home in the mix of things. He has made all sorts of headlines for the wrong reasons. Sbu has been blamed for the financial woes of Zahara. Several sources have it that he swindled Zahara royalties.

Zahara has it that Sbu, whom he was signed under, swingled his proceeds from his debut album, which was an international hit. The two haven’t been in good books for years, and it all started when Zahara accused DJ Sbu and Thembinkosi “TK” Nciza (who were her record label executives at her former label, TS Records) of exploiting her.

A few years ago Zahara dropped a bombshell when he reviewed that she did not receive royalties for her debut album Loliwe. The debut album has more than 500 000 copies sold and won Zahara several awards. But, in recent years, DJ Sbu has always rubbished the daring claims. He even went on to take a swipe at Zahara.

“Ms Zahara’s money has always gone to her.”

In response, the Mgodi singer rubbished his claims and called him a liar. Taking to Twitter, DJ Sbu tweeted:

“I haven’t been getting anything since I left the record label and I saw recently that my music was uploaded on digital platforms without me knowing, it means they sold my records to somebody and it means I need to get a cut for it.”
