Dolly – We’ll Take The Underdog Tag

Kaizer Chiefs winger Keagan Dolly has admitted his side will accept the “underdog tag” heading into the Soweto Derby.

Dolly, 29, has experienced two derby wins with the Amakhosi last season, scoring a brace in his first Derby, when Chiefs beat Pirates 2-1 in November 2021.

However, the Glamour Boys enter Saturday’s derby on the back of three games without a win, while Pirates are unbeaten in four matches and also reached the MTN8 final.

“In terms of the pressure, for us at Chiefs we always say ‘the pressure is a privilege’. We’re all privileged to be part of this major derby,” Dolly said at the pre-match press conference.

“We’re some of the lucky few that get the opportunity to play in a sold-out FNB Stadium. That’s what we live on at Chiefs, we always tell each other it’s a privilege.

“It’s a team sport in the end of the day, we try to help each other. If one is not doing well on the day, we try to encourage him, just try to uplift him.”

He was also asked whether Chiefs will enter the game as underdogs and said the Amakhosi will accept the tag – with the derby having a history of the team with worse form entering the tie often coming out trumps in the past.

“Obviously they’re high in confidence now after making it to the MTN8 final, we will give them that, we will take the underdog tag and just do our best on the day,” he added.
