Maduka Unsure Of Maritzburg Future

Under-fire Maritzburg United head coach John Maduka says he is not sure of his future in the club after the 5-0 thumping by Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Team of Choice continues to struggle after failing to collect maximum points against the DStv Premiership leaders. United has managed to collect just two points out of the possible 15 points in their last five matches.

Maduka, who only joined the club ahead of the season, has come under immense pressure, amid rumours he might get sacked soon.

But he insisted the current run of the club is based on “building a new team” that includes many inexperienced players.

“I don’t know, the pressure will always be there,” Maduka told the media.

“You must remember that we are trying to build a new team, you can see the players we introduced, most of them are new in the PSL.

“So when you are building a team you will get along the way, it’s part of building the team. I will happen, things like this will happen. It’s part of growth.

“So as a coach, yes the pressure is always there. But we will take one game at a time, we look forward to the coming game.”

Maduka knows he has to get positive result on the weekend when his side faces their neighbors Lamontville Golden Arrows in the KwaZulu-Natal derby at Harry Gwala Stadium.

Arrows themselves are on a four-match winless run, sitting 11th on the log with 13 points after 12 games. Meanwhile, United are 14th, with 11 points after 12 games played.
