Orlando Pirates striker Kermit Erasmus has celebrated scoring against former employers Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday by hitting back on lies peddled against him.
In a post-match reaction, Erasmus took to his twitter handle to empty his chest.
“They will tell you things about me you didn’t know, lies too. One thing they won’t tell you is the truth,” he said.
“So, I just had to become it. #MyEgoTalking #KE95. Once & Always.”
It is unclear as to who Erasmus is referring to over the lies, but it seems he felt underrated at Sundowns; hence, his recent exit.
Erasmus then acknowledged the role the fans played in the win on Saturday.
“Great atmosphere today at the Peter Stadium. Thank you to all the fans that came to watch football,” he said.
Former Pirates winger Daine Klate has since commented on Erasmus’ tweet.
The former Bidvest Wits star has advised him to focus on his goal scoring business and let his boots do the talking.
“You don’t have to prove anything to anyone!!!! Enjoy the game, control what you can, score and create goals,” the ex-Chippa United coach tweeted.
Erasmus’ opening goal put Pirates on the path to a 3-0 win over Sundowns in the MTN8 semifinal, second leg match.
The former SuperSport United forward Erasmus scored the opener in the eighth minute.
Thereafter, the opening goal’s creator Monnapule Saleng turned scorer.
The midfielder bagged a second-half double to send Pirates through and leave Erasmus on cloud nine.
Erasmus rejoined the Soweto giants after Sundowns accepted to release him from his contract.
The 32-year-old Erasmus had fallen down the pecking order with Peter Shalulile the main striker.
Sundowns also signed Chilean Marcelo Allende and Ethiopian Abubeker Nasir.
Pirates and Sundowns settled for goalless draw in the first leg match.
Now the Buccaneers will date either AmaZulu or Kaizer Chiefs in the final.
Usuthu and Amakhosi meet in the other semifinal on Sunday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
