South African star Percy Tau has finally earned his place in Al Ahly matchday squad for the first time in months.

TAU HAS FULLY RECOVERED

Al Ahly have confirmed that Tau has made it into the 21-member playing squad for Sunday’s Egyptian Premier League game against Aswan.

The inclusion signals that Tau has fully recovered from an injury that denied country and club of his services.

Tau was dropped from Al Ahly party that started the CAF Champions League qualifying race with a 1-0 win and 3-0 wins over Ismaily last weekend over two legs.

It appears the former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker has now done enough to impress new coach Marcel Koller.

Koller had also excluded the South African forward from back-to-back games against US Monastir in the CAF Champions League first round games.

In Tau’s absence, Al Ahly beat Monastir 1-0 and 3-0 away and at home in the preliminary round stage.

FRESH START

Tau is hoping for a fresh start to his career in Egypt after an injury ridden spell.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns star signed for the Reds last November from Brighton and Hove Albion.

Tau’s future at Al Ahly has been a subject of doubt since the exit of his Sundowns mentor Pitso Mosimane.

The former Bafana Bafana mentor is now in charge of Al Ahli Saudi Club in Saudi Arabia second tier league.

The former SuperSport United boss signed for Al Ahli Saudi Club two months ago.

Mosimane had resigned as Al Ahly coach in Egypt and gone on a sabbatical .

The former Bafana Bafana coach has been charged with a mandate to take the club back to the professional league In Saudi Arabia.

He has since started his reign impressively with Al Ahli after winning three games out of out of four.

The former Bafana Bafana mentor Mosimane first managed Tau at Sundowns where the pair went on to win the CAF Champions League in the year 2016.
