Zwane Remains Coy On Caleb & Potential New Striker

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane could not confirm whether striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana will be available against AmaZulu and remained coy on potentially signing Dino Ndlovu.

Bimenyimana was a notable absentee for Chiefs in their 2-2 draw against TS Galaxy at FNB Stadium on Wednesday evening after his blistering start to life with the club.

The Burundi international has scored six league goals in as many games for Amakhosi and it’s been suggested by SABC Sport that he could be ruled out for the next four weeks.

Zwane stopped short of confirming that he won’t be available before the 2022 FIFA World Cup break but stated they are awaiting the medical reports before making a decision on his availability.

“I think we’ll get the doctor’s report tomorrow because today we’re off, I don’t know how long he will be out, but what I know for sure but he’s got a little bit of a challenge, but we’re still waiting for the doctor’s report,” he said in the MTN8 pre-match press conference.

He also remained coy when asked whether the club would be open to signing veteran striker Dino Ndlovu who’s become a free agent after parting ways with Chinese Super League side Changchun Yatai.

Zwane previously stated the club may look to dip into the transfer market in the January window to bolster their options for the second half of the season but stated there’s several players on their shortlist at present.

“Yeah, look, we’re profiling a lot of strikers at the moment and until we get there, the right one we think will fit in our way of playing…”

Amakhosi will take on Usuthu on Sunday for their second leg MTN8 semi-final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium at 15h30.
