Marumo Gallant’s head coach Dan Malesela has reacted with a cryptic message after his side’s 1-0 loss against Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday.
Malesela lost his first game during his second stint as Gallants head coach after a first-half goal by Sphelele Mkhulise gave Sundowns the slender win.
However, things could’ve ended differently after Cheick Soumahoro scored what seemed to be a late equaliser for Bahlabane Baa Ntwaa, but captain Lehlohonolo Nonyane, who played the ball first, was ruled offside.
The decision visibly upset Malesela, who much like most of his players had contested it wildly on the pitch, but he didn’t want to call out the referee directly after the final whistle.
“We always expected it to be tough,” Malesela said after the match.
“We struggled big time in the first half, maybe because of certain placements and as soon as we changed, we brought on some fresh blood and other players, everything changed, changed for the better, could have gone somewhere, could’ve favoured us but you can’t control certain situations.
“I’m not gonna complain about certain other things. I leave them to God.
Gallants are sitting at the bottom of the table with nine just points after 10 games and Malesela insisted they need to collect more points as quickly as possible.
“We have to redeem ourselves against the next opponent, we really need the points. We need the points seriously so,” he added.
