Hunt – Hlatshwayo Should Still Be Bafana Captain

SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt feels like Thulani Hlatshwayo should still be Bafana Bafana captain.

Matsatsantsa overcame a stubborn Stellenbosch side at Danie Craven by winning 2-0 on Tuesday evening.

A first-half goal by Jammie Webber and a Bradley Grobler tap-in in second half were enough to give the Tshwane-based side all three points.

The Spartans kept their third clean sheet of the season with Hlatshwayo leading the back four.

Hunt mentioned that he thinks Hlatshwayo should be still Bafana Bafana captain, even though the defender has not picked by Hugo Broos.

“Tyson Hlatshwayo for me he should still be the captain of Bafana, I don’t care what anybody says,” Hunt told gathered journalists.

“I mean he is 31-years-old, he’s not even in his prime as a centre-back. He had a rough patch, you can’t be throwing away a player like that. No chance not for me, anyway that’s my opinion.”

DStv Premiership will be going in a break due to FIFA World Cup in Qatar. SuperSport United will play their last round before the World Cup against struggling Swallows FC at home.

Hunt’s side will hope to go into the break on a high after climbing to the top of the league table with 20 points after 11 games.
