Arrows & Pirates Announce Starting XIs

Lamontville Golden Arrows and Orlando Pirates have announced their starting XIs for this evening’s DStv Premiership fixture at Princess Magogo Stadium.

It’s been a month since both sides last won an official match. Abafana Bes’thende last won a game in September when they hammered Pirates’ neighbours Swallows FC 4-0 at tonight’s venue.

Meanwhile, the Buccaneers also last enjoyed maximum points in early September, however, while Arrows have only played twice, Pirates had four fixtures since their last win – scoring just once across those games.

Pirates assistant coach Sergio Almenara mentioned the importance of getting back to winning ways when they face stubborn Arrows side.

The KwaZulu Natal-based side is sitting eighth on the log, three points behind Orlando Pirates, while Jose Riveiro’s men are three points away from the top and a win for them would put them level on points with log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

However, the Sea Robbers have a bad recent record against Arrows, failing to win any of their last six games, picking up five goalless draws and losing once. Pirates’ last goal and win against Arrows dates back to March 2019.

Here is how they line up:

Golden Arrows XI: Gumede, Ndlovu, Manthsiyane, Zuke, Lunga, Dube, Dlamini, Mmodi, Sibiya, Ndwandwe, Magawana

Subs: Mbatha, Cele, Nkosi, Magubane, Shitolo, Moon, Gumbi, Khumalo, Mjengu

Orlando Pirates XI: Mpontshane, Ndah, Sibisi, Maela, Monyane, Hotto, Timm, Dlamini, Ndlondlo, Saleng, Erasmus

Subs: Chaine, Xoki, Mako, Makaringe, Motshwari, Makgaka, Makgopa, Lepasa, Peprah
