Amanda Dlamini has stepped down as a senior manager at SAFA, iDiski Times has learnt.
Her reasons for stepping down at this moment in time are not known, but “there are big tensions at SAFA”, the source added.
The former Banyana Banyana captain was appointed in July last year to be responsible for commercial and marketing.
Other responsibilities were to oversee and monitor the management and service of SAFA’s commercial partners/sponsors for all SAFA events, projects and other opportunities;
Coordinate the compilation of all updates on events and marketing reports; create a true partnership with commercial partners by building a strong relationship through frequent relevant communication;
Familiarise herself with the commercial partners’ business/marketing interests, goals and objectives and how SAFA properties can support achieving them;
Identify relevant and meaningful marketing leverage opportunities for commercial partners; drafting of marketing strategies;
Obtain approval of the marketing strategy and budget, ensure delivery of contractual rights;
Continuously add value to commercial partners and manage event-related tasks.
But due to time spent with the association, not all of this has been fulfilled.
“Amanda Dlamini has stepped down at SAFA for unknown reasons,” said the insider.
The mole also added there are many tensions brewing up at the association in what is the second spell in the office for SAFA president Dany Jordaan, who won the third term during the controversial elective congress in June this year with a landslide.
There are talks behind the scenes that more heads are set to roll.
“The president wants to retrench staff to cut the costs,” said the mole.
It will be interesting to see whether SAFA does replace Dlamini in this post, which Jordaan spoke glowingly about previously.
He said it was important to bring women on board at SAFA, especially those who have played the game, such as Lydia Monyepao, who was appointed as the SAFA Chief Operations Officer (COO) two months earlier than Dlamini.
