Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies have extended their Hollywoodbets Super League lead to 13 points following their 1-0 win over Tsunami Queens.

This was the only midweek fixture as the red-hot Brazilians continued with fine form.

A goal from Melinda Kgadiete in the 53rd minute was enough for Banyana Ba Style to collect all valuable three points at home.

The club’s head coach Jerry Tshabalala had anticipated tough battle of which the visitors gave them as they only managed to score one goal given the fact that the last time the two teams met, Masandawana won the game with a 7-0 scoreline.

WHAT TSHABALALA SAID BEFORE THE GAME

“We are anticipating a very tough encounter and we are fully prepared to leave it all on the pitch,” ‘Kappa’, as he is popularly known told Sundowns’ media.

“We have to build up properly from the back when we face sides with a low defensive block. If we are in a panic mode, we will struggle to convert our chances when they come, therefore, we need to be patient even when we are not scoring goals as we want.”

Meanwhile, Sundowns frontwoman Rhoda Mulaudzi had highlighted the importance of their busy league schedule, citing that they are preparing for the upcoming CAF Women’s Champions League.

“These games are preparing us for the Women’s Champions League because we are fully aware that there will be no easy fixtures in Morocco,” she stated.

As things stand, the defending champions are still flourishing at the summit of the log standings with 64 points from 24 outings, 16 points clear of second-placed arch-rivals TUT Ladies.

Sundowns have now scored a whopping 93 goals and have only conceded 11 goals in the process.
