Royal AM co-coach Abram Nteo has a plan to overcome their CAF Confederations Cup opponents ZESCO United at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday.
The KwaZulu-Natal outfit are newcomers in the CAF competition, and they are hosting the Zambian giants in the second round of the competition after beating Mbabane Highlanders last month.
He admits that the competition gets more challenging as they face experienced teams like Zesco.
Nteo, however, adds they have researched their opponents and are aware of what to expect against Ugandan striker Alfred Leku, who recently joined the club.
GOT INFORMATION
Zesco also have youth international Songa Chipyoka, who arrived on Saturday from Eswatini, where he is representing Zambia in the COSAFA Under 20 Championship.
They also have Austin Muwowo, who is no stranger to South African football after his stint with Orlando Pirates.
“Yes, we got information about them. We are playing a team that has been playing competition for some time. They always play CAF football, and we are new in this kind of competition, but we have done research about them,” Nteo told the media on Friday.
“It won’t be easy. Remember, they have many international players from Kenya and Uganda. They have quality and experienced players. We have to deal with them and fight to get positive results.”
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Nteo knows the players Zesco will also be counting. They have the experience of Kenyan goalkeeper Ian Otieno, John Chingandu, Kelvin Kampamba, Collins Sikombe, Kelvin Kapumbu, Solomon Sakala, and Clement Mwape to dig in and lift the team when the going gets tough.
Nteo wants his side to make sure they score and win at home while avoiding conceding. “Ours is to make sure we keep the clean sheet and score goals so we can go to the second round with something. Beating them here will give us a huge advantage. We must score and defend,” he said.
