Kwinika to miss Chiefs’ trip to Stellenbosch

Kaizer Chiefs defender Zitha Kwinika will miss Sunday’s DStv Premiership encounter against Stellenbosch at Cape Town Stadium.

Kwinika will serve a one-match suspension and miss out on the opportunity to face his former side after accumulating his fourth yellow card of the season against Swallows on Wednesday evening.

Amakhosi won the Soweto Derby DStv Premiership clash 2-1 victory at Dobsonville Stadium.

The absence of Kwinika will be a massive blow for Amakhosi, given the fact that the centre-back has been a regular starter under coach Arthur Zwane.

The former Bidvest Wits star has made 11 appearances in all competitions for the Glamour Boys so far this campaign and has one goal to his name.

After helping Stellies achieve their best-ever finish in the league since gaining promotion to the topflight in the 2018/19 season, the 28-year-old re-joined Chiefs ahead of the new campaign.

Kwinika amassed 27 matches in the Premiership last season and was named Stellenbosch Player of the Season.

Another player set to miss the Stellies encounter due to suspension is Chiefs midfielder George Matlou, who was sent off against AmaZulu during the MTN8 first-leg semi-finals at FNB Stadium last weekend.

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates will be without their first-choice goalie Richard Ofori when they welcome high-flying Richards Bay at Orlando Stadium on Saturday night (20:00).

Ofori received his fourth caution of the campaign as Pirates suffered a humiliating 2-0 defeat against Sekhukhune United on Tuesday in Polokwane.

Despite conceding a howler against Babina Noko, the Ghanaian international has been pivotal for the Buccaneers as he has kept six clean sheets.

Furthermore, Pirates Spanish coach Jose Riveiro will be without wing-back Thabiso Monyane, who was red-carded against Sekhukhune at New Peter Mokaba Stadium.
