Xoki – We Struggled With The Wind

Orlando Pirates defender Tapelo Xoki blames the wind after the Buccaneers suffered their third defeat of the season against Sekhukhuned United earlier in the week.

The 27-year-old made his seventh league appearance this season when they faced Babina Noko at New Peter Mokaba stadium Tuesday evening.

Sekhukhune United looked well on top for large parts and created more chances with Ghanaian goalkeeper Richard Ofori rescuing the team making two crucial saves before the home side finally broke the deadlock. Xoki feels the conditions in Limpopo made things harder for their side

“It’s a tough one to take, we didn’t play our best game,” he told the club’s website.

“Conditions played a part, we struggled to play with the wind. We couldn’t cope in terms of trying to adjust to the wind but we gave it our all we fought even with 10-man we kept the ball.

“We still kept pushing forward, unfortunately, they gave us a sucker punch on the 82nd minute but it’s done and dusted now, we have to focus on the next game which is Saturday.”

Jose Riveiro’s side has now dropped to fourth place due to goal difference, but the Buccaneers have no time to sulk as they will face second-placed Richards Bay FC at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
