Fadlu Davids, 45, returns to familiar shores. He recently coach Young Africans’ rivals Simba SC in Dar es Salaam whom he famously guided to the CAF Confederation Cup final.

Davids takes over from compatriot Manqoba Mngqithi, who recently left the position following a brief spell in charge.

FADLU DAVIDS INHERITS TITLE CHALLENGE

The Tanzanian giants are placed in second place the Tanzanian Premier League. They trail Steve Barker’s Simba SC by just five points.

Davids, formerly with Maritzburg United and Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca, will be expected to close that gap and maintain the club’s domestic dominance.

Davids has already arrived in Tanzania with his trusted backroom staff, including assistants Darian Wilken and Mueez Kajee.

His immediate focus will be preparing the squad for upcoming domestic fixtures and the CAF Champions League group stage.

YOUNG AFRICANS CONFIDENT IN SOUTH AFRICAN

The 31-time Tanzanian champions made the announcement on social media.

“Karibu Young Africans SC, Fadlu Davids. The most decorated and successful football club in Tanzania welcomes you to the family,” the club known as Yanga said.

“We are thrilled to enter this new chapter under your technical leadership as we collectively strive to maintain our domestic dominance and conquer the continental stage. Daima Mbele, Nyuma Mwiko,” the note added.

Davids also expressed his excitement about returning to Tanzania, describing the country as a place he considers a second home.

The South African tactician indicated that the timing was finally right after previous approaches from the club’s leadership.

He will now be tasked with delivering silverware on multiple fronts, including the Tanzanian Premier League and CAF Champions League.

The challenge is significant, particularly with Young Africans chasing Simba SC domestically and facing a demanding continental campaign.

Coming up is a trip to Polisi Tanzania FC in the Tanzanian Premier League on Friday 20 November.
