Percy Tau will miss Al Ahly’s opener in the CAF Champions League, as he is yet fully recover from his thigh injury.
The Egyptian giants recently stated that Tau would soon return to team training after making progress in his recovery.
However, his progress hasn’t been enough to be ready for this weekend’s second preliminary round first leg against US Monastir in Tunisia, according to Kingfut.
The Tunisian side are one of the tougher opponents and, while Al Ahly had a bye in the first preliminary round, Monastir beat APR from Rwanda 3-1 on aggregate.
Al Ahly first travel to Tunisia for the first leg on Sunday before hosting them in Cairo a week later. It will also be the first two games of new Al Ahly head coach Marcel Koller.
According to Kingfut, Koller and his technical team will remain patient with Tau, even if it would mean he will also miss the second leg. They do hope, though, that Tau will be ready for the Egyptian Super Cup on 28 October.
