Club football is set to pause once again as national teams turn their attention to international fixtures, including the latest round of Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches.

Bafana Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane has named a 27-man squad for the November window, retaining much of the group that featured in South Africa’s three international matches in September.

Five Orlando Pirates players have made the cut.

Goalkeeper Sipho Chaine has received another national team call-up following his consistent performances between the posts.

He is joined by defender Lebone Seema, who has continued to make progress at international level after making his debut as a substitute in the 5-0 victory over Eritrea.

Seema subsequently earned his first start in South Africa’s 1-0 friendly win over Egypt.

Midfielder Thalente Mbatha also returns to the national team setup after an injury-enforced absence.

Completing the Orlando Pirates contingent are attackers Oswin Appollis and Tshepang Moremi, both of whom retain their places in the squad.

Bafana BAFANA prepare for two matches against Kenya

South Africa will face co-hosts Kenya twice during the November international window.

The first encounter is scheduled for Friday, 13 November, at Orlando Amstel Arena.

Bafana will then travel to Nairobi for the return fixture at Nyayo Stadium on Tuesday, 17 November.

The matches form part of South Africa’s preparations and campaign for the 2027 AFCON tournament, which will be hosted in East Africa.

For Orlando Pirates, the five call-ups provide another opportunity for their players to gain valuable international experience during a busy period of the season.
