Former Chiefs Defender Retires From Football

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender and Uganda legend Godfrey Walusimbi has retired from football at the age of 33.

Walusimbi spent one season with Amakhosi and departed in a controversial fashion when he was deregistered for the signing of Daniel Akpeyi before he terminated his contract with the club.

He initially arrived from Kenyan giants Gor Mahia where he developed a reputation as one of the finest full-backs on the continent but failed to make an impact at Naturena before moving to Albanian side KF Vllaznia Shkodër.

He’s now admitted that he’s fallen out of love with the professional game and will now venture into coaching and has already acquired his CAF C License ahead of the switch.

Walusimbi bows out of the game as the most-capped footballer of The Cranes having amassed 108 appearances for the senior national team.
