The impact of South Africa’s local government elections has forced the Premier Soccer League (PSL) to adjust its Carling Knockout quarter-final fixtures, with the remaining matches now scheduled to take place over the weekend.

The matches, which were initially scheduled around Friday, November 6, have been moved to Saturday, November 7, and Sunday, November 8, as the PSL reshuffles its football calendar following the elections held on Wednesday, November 4.

Orlando Pirates will take on Sekhukhune United on Saturday at Orlando Amstel Arena, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm.

On Sunday, Kaizer Chiefs will face Siwelele FC at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane at 3pm, while Stellenbosch FC host AmaZulu FC at Danie Craven Stadium in a 6pm encounter.

The quarter-final matches are expected to produce exciting contests as the teams battle for places in the semi-finals of the competition.

Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns have already booked their place in the last four after defeating Golden Arrows 1-0 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Tuesday night.

Arthur Sales Reiners scored the decisive goal in the 69th minute to send the Brazilians through.

The revised schedule comes at a busy time for South African football, with clubs having to balance domestic commitments with other competitions.

The remaining quarter-final matches will determine which three teams join Sundowns in the semi-finals as the race for the Carling Knockout trophy intensifies.
