Brand New Day’ set photos hint at emotional return

Filming for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day is well underway in Glasgow, Scotland.

The city centre is doubling for New York’s streets, providing a fresh backdrop for Tom Holland’s latest Spider-Man adventure.

SPIDER-MAN FILMING IN SCOTLAND

Excitingly, set photos have revealed that the film might revisit a beloved location from 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, Delmar’s Deli.

This is the New York bodega Peter Parker frequented and accidentally destroyed in the first solo Spider-Man movie.

Tom Holland was spotted wearing a Delmar’s Deli t-shirt while in costume, hinting that the deli may have reopened, according to Screen Rant.

This is significant because it could symbolise Peter Parker clinging to remnants of his former life.

SPIDER-MAN’S NEW STORY

After the dramatic events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter’s friends can no longer remember him, and Aunt May is dead. The character is likely to be more isolated and searching for stability.

The deli might also be a source of employment for Peter as he supports himself. A fresh take on Spider-Man’s struggles that could resonate with many young people juggling work and studies.

A COMIC ACCURATE PETER

This storyline suggests a more vulnerable and comic-accurate portrayal of Peter, one dealing with personal tragedy and responsibility.

“Having Peter work in a reopened Delmar’s would be far more than a convenient way to support himself,” the set photo analysis notes. “It could reveal much about his mindset.”

This portrayal of resilience and rebuilding after loss may resonate deeply, reflecting the universal themes of personal growth.

A HERO’S HUMANITY

Spider-Man’s ongoing adventures continue to bridge cultures by showcasing humanity amid the extraordinary.

In Holland’s words, recently shared on set: “It’s great to return to a place that means so much to Peter. Delmar’s is not just a deli, it’s part of his story, his past, and maybe his future.”
