De’Moss caught up with BONA to speak about the new single and reflect on the collaborative relationship he has built with Cnethemba.
Siyohluleka in love
The song speaks about the struggles of finding genuine love in today’s romantic relationships and how difficult it has become to find someone with pure, honest intentions.
De’Moss shares how the song title, meaning “we will fail” when translated into English, is an expression of the defeat felt after repeated attempts at trying to find romantic love and a reflection of where he is personally in terms of looking for love.
“Personally, I haven’t given up on love, but the song reminds me that finding someone who genuinely loves you is special. If you’re fortunate enough to find.”
He added:
“Siyohluleka was inspired by the realities of modern relationships and the challenges of finding genuine love. The idea came from Cnethemba Gonelo after I played her a few beats in the studio an, and she chose the one we eventually used. She recorded her verse and chorus in less than 20 minutes.”

Collaborative relationships
Siyohluleka is De’Moss and Cnethmba’s first official track together, even though they have worked together before on the remixes of her songs, Nangephupho and Emazweni remix packs. This is where their professional relationship began.
In his description of their working relationship, it is clear that they are a dynamic duo. When describing the atmosphere during their studio session, elements of excitement, fluidity, and comfort were highlighted.
“The atmosphere in the studio was amazing, filled with excitement and positive energy. Although I had worked with Cnethemba on her remixes before, we had never met in person, so this was our first time meeting. She was genuinely excited to finally meet me, which made the session feel special from the start,” he shared.
“It was also easy for her to connect with Aluta Soul because they share a similar approach to songwriting and the kind of lyrics they write. Everything flowed naturally, and we were able to focus on creating music together in a comfortable and creative environment.”
