Ex-Pirates Stars’ Son Impresses Zwane

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has suggested they may have a new player in the form of midfielder Samkelo Zwane as an option in the first team for this season.
Zwane, the son of former Orlando Pirates and Jomo Cosmos midfielder Eugene Zwane, made his first appearance in the first team as Chiefs lost to Royal AM on penalties in the Macufe Cup after the game finished 1-1 in regulation time.
The twenty-year-old midfielder earned some plaudits in recent months for his comfort on the ball and ability to read the game and ‘10111’ admits he’s showing potential to form part of their plans for the 2022/23 season, which is why he was offered a chance this past weekend.
“Most definitely [he’s an option], one of the reasons we’ve brought him to the first team because he’s got the potential, he’s got the qualities and we said let’s test him now and see how he responds,” Zwane said about his cameo in the Macufe Cup.
“He responded very positively and he’s giving us other options and its good because he comes from the development as well, so we’re happy, the more we see these youngsters come to this side and pulling their weight, expressing themselves it’s good for the club and the future of the team.”
