Is Erasmus the missing puzzle at Pirates?

The return of Kermit Erasmus at Orlando Pirates has brought hope and belief to the club’s supporters, according to ex-captain Siyabonga Sangweni.

With Erasmus rejoining Pirates Mamelodi Sundowns on transfer deadline day, Sangweni is optimistic that the Soweto giants can dream of reclaiming their former glory; happy days.

The Erasmus move is a massive statement by the Buccaneers, as reports indicated that Sundowns were unwilling to let go of the striker to join any of the other big clubs because of their mission to continue with their dominance.

The former Pirates defender, like many other Pirates faithful, has expressed his excitement and welcomed the return of Romeo, whom he feels was the missing piece of the puzzle in the dressing room.

Sangweni has described Erasmus as a massive fish that can guarantee any club goals as he is a fearless attacker.

WHAT THE RETURN OF ERASMUS MEANS FOR PIRATES

“I am happy Kermit Erasmus is back at Pirates as he is an incredibly talented player,” Sangweni told FARPost,

“He is dangerous in the box. He can guarantee you a goal anytime, always hungry and a fighter.”

Sangweni is optimistic that Pirates will win a cup this season, starting with MTN8, as the Soweto giants haven’t won a trophy in two years.

“Orlando Pirates got an influential person in him [Erasmus]; he was the last piece of the puzzle that was needed because they play good football,” added Sangweni.

“They just needed that kind of a striker; I can safely say they are winning something this season.”

The Soweto giants made some great signings: Erasmus is joined by Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo from Marumo Gallants and goalie Sipho Chaine from Chippa United.

Sangweni strongly believes those signings will help his former club to win a trophy. They are currently in the semi-final of the MTN8, where they face Mamelodi Sundowns in the first leg on Saturday at Orlando Stadium.

“They’ve done so well in this transfer season, they definitely winning something, starting with MTN8,” he concluded.
