Bafana Boss Slams PSL Over Coaches Dilemma

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has claimed the Premier Soccer League (PSL) has not sent through his letter to the 16 coaches over a potential meeting to discuss the way forward.

Broos has said on more than one occasion that he’s not been able to sit down with the head coaches on the DStv Premiership clubs over their players in an attempt to get to know them better.

When asked about the standard of the PSL, which he has reiterated is not good enough, he went on to suggest that his attempts to work on a way forward to address these issues have fallen on deaf ears.

“You know the story of the meeting with the PSL coaches you know, already it’s been one year I’ve tried to see them, and every time the league said no,” Broos said on Tuesday evening at FNB Stadium.

“You know what happened in December, they didn’t even send my letter to the clubs and I was disappointed that I didn’t have an answer from the coaches.

“But they didn’t receive my letter, everyone knows the story here and it’s not my fault that I can’t see the coaches. So I will try again now and the last time, the very last time and now in November – if I can’t succeed to have a meeting with the coaches then it’s finished.

“I’m not a fool, I’m not a fool. So last year in August, the first time I wanted to see the coaches, I was here for a month, but no, no, no… Okay, what can I do? Last time in November and when it doesn’t succeed it [is] finished.

“Then you can go to the league and ask why, not to me because you’re always asking me. You know the story, you know it. So why do you ask me? Just ask the league why I can’t see the coaches.”

Bafana will meet up for their next camp in November where two proposed friendlies are being discussed at home and potentially in Asia.
