Crucial dates for the title race

Pirates vs Chiefs

The first Soweto Derby will be a good acid test for Orlando Pirates.

While Kaizer Chiefs look to be out of the race, the result is never guaranteed.

Pirates will be pushing for a win, keeping them on pace with Mamelodi Sundowns.

The rivals meet again on 13 March next year, when the title race will have really taken shape.

Pirates vs Sundowns

The two title contenders meet on 9 January and then on 24 April.

Sundowns will host the first leg, while Pirates will host the return leg a few months later.

Currently, the two top contenders are separated by just 1 point.

This makes their clashes next year potential title deciders.

What does the table look like?

Mamelodi Sundowns remain top on 23 points, with 7 wins from 9 games.

Orlando Pirates are close behind on 22 points, having won 7 of their 8 matches.

AmaZulu remain in contention, sitting on 19 points after 6 wins in 8 clashes.

Milford FC jumped to fourth with their weekend win, taking 15 points from 9 games.

Kaizer Chiefs are now down to fifth on 14 points, having only mustered 3 wins this season.

They are level on points with Sekhukhune United in sixth position.

The rest of the table is as follows:

7th – Stellenbosch

8th – Golden Arrows

9th – Chippa United

10th – Durban City

11th – Polokwane City

12th – Kruger United
