Pitso Mosimane has commented for the first time on his new role as head coach of Al Ahli Saudi Football Club.

Mosimane, 58, was announced as new head coach of the Saudi Arabian side in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The new job comes after a three-months sabbatical from football, with Mosimane opting to join one of the biggest clubs in Saudi Arabia, who have been relegated from the Pro League to the First Division League for the first time in the club’s history.

Mosimane’s task will be to bring the three-time Saudi Professional League winners back into the top flight and onto the club’s trophy cabinet.

“I am very excited for this opportunity and I can’t wait to meet my new family Al Ahli Saudi Club,” he wrote on his social channels.

“Shukran to the Chairman, CEO, Board, players and supporters for trusting us with this mission.

“We will do our best to get the team where it belongs, recreate history and make the green nation happy.

“Alhamdulillah.”

So far Mosimane has lifted 21 trophies throughout his coaching career with SuperSport United, Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly, including three CAF Champions Leagues.
