Motsepe Foundation Championship newbies MM Platinum, famously known as La Masia, have signed a highly rated Cape Town City starlet on a season-long loan.

La Masia, who are in the professional set-up for the first team, gained promotion to the second-tier league after winning the ABC Motsepe League National playoffs several months ago.

In a bid to stamp their authority in the Championship, the Westbury-based side have moved swiftly to sign Cape Town City attacker Mogamat May for the remainder of the campaign.

SIGNING CONFIRMED

“City striker Mogamat May has completed a loan move to LA Masia until the end of the season,” Cape Town City confirmed in a tweet.

May joined the Citizens during the January transfer window in the 2021/22 season from ABC Motsepe outfit Hanover Park FC.

The youngster joined Eric Tinker’s side with a high goal-scoring pedigree after being involved in 22 goals for Hanover Park in the first half of last season.

The 24-year-old forward seemingly struggled to replicate the form that earned him a move to the Mother City, playing 11 games in his first season in the topflight but failing to score even a single goal.

In the current DStv Premiership season, May has battled for game time, which saw him only make just a single appearance.

Khayisa Mayo and Darwin Gonzalez are the preferred strikers to lead the CT City attack.

Furthermore, La Masia have signed the former Orlando Pirates winger Khethokwakhe Masuku on a free transfer.

The dribbling wizard has been without a club since parting ways with Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) in 2018.

Augustine Mahlonoko also joined La Masia at the start of the season after being released by Baroka.

MM Platinum are lying in 12th place on the log standings in the Motsepe Foundation Championship after four games with a win, draw, and two defeats.
