Big Blow! Kaizer Chiefs confirm injury ahead of Stellenbosch game

Kaizer Chiefs could be without Luke Baartman ahead of their fixture against Stellenbosch FC next week.

Amakhosi have welcomed back three players who were away on duty with the South African U23 national team, adding depth and energy to the squad.

The medical team is closely monitoring Luke Baartman after he picked up an injury, and updates on his progress, along with other sidelined players, will be shared ahead of the clash.

The 20-year-old has looked sharp for Chiefs this season and started most of their matches. His injury will be a big blow for Fernando Da Cruz as he looks to get back to winning ways.

Kaizer Chiefs return to action

After three weeks without competitive action, Amakhosi host Stellies at the FNB Stadium next Tuesday evening in their eighth Betway Premiership encounter of the season.

Chiefs are fourth on the log with 13 points from seven matches, eager to continue their strong start. Stellenbosch, coached by Gavin Hunt and featuring a few familiar former Chiefs players, will arrive determined to climb from their current seventh position, where they hold nine points.

A win at home for Kaizer Chiefs will revive their title hopes but anything less, will increase pressure on Da Cruz. Amakhosi are already seven points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns despite just eight matches played in the league this season.

Kick-off for action between the Glamour Boys and the Winelands team is set for 19:30 at FNB Stadium, Soweto.

Do you think Chiefs are in the title race?
