22-Year-Old Woman Found Dead Near University Of Limpopo Campus Fence

Police in Mankweng have opened an inquest after the body of a 22-year-old woman was found along Sovenga Street, next to the University of Limpopo campus fence, on Sunday morning.

Police said officers were on patrol at about 06:00 when they received information about a woman lying motionless near the campus fence.

They rushed to the scene and found the woman partially clothed, with her head inside a trench next to the fence.

No visible external injuries were found during an initial inspection of the body.

A bag containing the woman’s identity document and a National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) card was also found next to her.

Emergency Medical Services were called to the scene and declared her dead.

Police said it is suspected that the woman may have accidentally fallen into the trench. However, the exact circumstances surrounding her death have not yet been established.

Her identity has not been released pending notification of her next of kin.

Police have opened an inquest docket and investigations are continuing to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.
