Orlando Pirates will lock horns with Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 final on Saturday, 10 October.
Kick-off at Moses Mabhida Stadium is scheduled for 18:00.
As reported by The South African, this is a sold-out affair, meaning over 50 000 fans are expected at the venue for the match.
This will be a repeat of the 2023 MTN8 final which was won by Pirates who beat Sundowns 3-1 on penalties following a 0-0 draw.
MTN8: ORLANDO PIRATES HAVE THE EDGE OVER SUNDOWNS
Now, Pirates head into this titanic clash holding the advantage having enjoyed huge success since MTN took over sponsorship in 2008.
Furthermore, the Buccaneers are eyeing their fifth successive MTN8 final triumph having lifted the trophy in the last four seasons.
Since 2008, Pirates have won the MTN8 title on SEVEN different occasions – 2010, 2011, 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2024.
Sundowns, on the other hand, have won it ONCE since 2008, and this was in 2021 when they defeated the same Cape Town City 3-2 on penalties.
Their biggest MTN8 final defeat came in 2016 when they were hammered 3-0 by the now defunct Bidvest Wits.
