Royal AM Coach – What Malesela Said To Me Before He Left

Royal AM co-coach Abram Nteo has revealed what Dan Malesela said to him before leaving the club and added he’d be ready to step up if the club president Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize grants him an opportunity.

MaMkhize saw coach Dan Malesela resign last week and on Tuesday morning he was appointed as Marumo Gallants coach, as reported by iDiski Times.

Malesela’s re-appointment at Gallants came somewhat as a surprise after MaMkhize dismissed any rumours of his departure and insisted he was unwell when he missed the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup clash against Mbabane Highlanders in Durban on Friday.

Royal AM won 2-0 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium and advanced with a 2-0 aggregate score, with Nteo being in charge of both matches due to Malesela and Kabo Zondo not having the required CAF licenses.

However, Nteo, just like others, said he doesn’t know why Malesela decided to leave the club but before he left he had some words of encouragement for him to crack in the coaching industry.

“I don’t know why he left,” said Nteo.

“But what we spoke about, he encouraged me to work very hard in terms of my coaching career because he saw the potential that I have in terms of how I’m working with the boys. But in terms of why he left, I don’t know why.”

When asked whether he feels ready to lead the club after Malesela’s departure, Nteo, who already worked as assistant coach under John Maduka, said he’d grab the opportunity

“Of course I’ll love the opportunity if I’m given but I don’t know, we will see,” he responded in short.

Malesela was appointed by Royal AM during the off season after he parted ways with the same Gallants, who he led to the Nedbank Cup final last season.

It remains to be seen whether MaMkhize will stick with Nteo or she will appoint someone new in the next coming days.
