Buhlebendalo to perform at Hugh’s Jazz Club

Buhlebendalo is set to grace the stage at Hugh’s Jazz Club this October. The afro-soul singer will bring her evocative sound to the intimate stage of the jazz bar.

Hugh’s Jazz Club is a jazz bar that opened in January this year, named after South African Jazz legend Hugh Masekela. The bar has an elegant, chic design with a memorable red-and-gold interior and warm lighting, facilitating an intimate space to listen to jazz, drink, and socialise.

Buhlebendalo going to Hugh’s Jazz Club

Hugh’s Jazz Club announced on its Instagram page that the former member of the double-platinum a capella group The Soil will be performing at the jazz bar on 8 October 2026. The singer left the group in 2023, carving her own solo career.

Buhlebendalo accompanies her music with impactful messaging around womanhood, queerness, identity, healing, and community. Hugh’s describes her career pivot as the following:

“This is an artist who left a platinum group to say something only she could say.”

Hugh’s October schedule

The jazz club hosts events on Thursday nights and announces one performer each week. Much like every month since the bar opened, October’s line-up is stacked with amazing performers who bring impactful performances to the intimate stage.

Sphelele Mazibuko, a drummer and recording artist, will be performing this Thursday, 1 October 2026, followed by Buhlebendalo. During the third week of October, on 15 October 2026, a Zimbabwean guitarist is expected on stage.

European duo Michaela Rabitsch and her composer and partner Robert Pawlik will be performing on 22 October 2026, and the last act on the October schedule is South African guitarist Keenan Ahrends, on 29 October 2026.
