Wicknell Chivayo And Wife To Be Buried At Glen Forest On Thursday
Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo and his wife, Lucy “Lulu” Muteke, will be buried on Thursday, 8 October 2026, at Glen Forest Cemetery in Harare.
The burial will take place at 2pm and will be open to the public. Family spokesperson Herbert Chivayo said the decision would allow friends, colleagues and members of the public to pay their final respects.
“This is open to the public. Everyone can come and pay their last respects,” he told ZBC News.
In a funeral notice, the families described Chivayo as “our pride” and Muteke as “our joy”, adding that “they loved truly and they leave together.”
The couple died on 30 September when their helicopter crashed at Kudenga Farm in Marondera. Pilot Calvin Tafirei Soda, co-pilot Courage Mutavirwa and security aide Saneliswe Magagula were also killed. Police later confirmed that five people died.
The burial arrangements were finalised after forensic and DNA identification of the remains. There will be no viewing of the bodies because of their condition.
Soda will be buried in Marondera on Sunday, while arrangements for the co-pilot and Muteke’s aide have not yet been announced.
