Striker James Chamanga insists Red Arrows can shock Primeiro de Agosto away in Luanda this Sunday and advance to the 2022/23 CAF Champions League pre-group stage.

Arrows head into Sunday’s preliminary round, final leg tie against their Angolan opponents trailing 1-0 from the first leg played in Lusaka on September 10.

“We could have been worried if we were going there with a 2-0 defeat,” Chamanga said.

“We know what we are capable of doing and people should not be worried because we shall get the result that will see the team progress.

“It’s a game we need to give our all as players. We are league defending champions and the country is expecting us to do justice.

“The task is worth dying for and we shall surely do justice,” added the 42-year-old striker.

Arrows have never qualified to the group stage of continental competition and last season reached the third round of the 2021/2022 CAF Confederation Cup.

But Arrows are now facing the prospect of a first round elimination from continental competition for the first time since 2012.

That year, Arrows made an early exit from the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary stage following a 1-0 aggregate loss to Royal Leopards of Eswatini after a scoreless first leg draw at home in Lusaka.
