Zwane – They Must Know They Coming To Donate Points

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has reiterated the importance of making FNB Stadium a fortress after maintaining their unbeaten record at home this season.

Zwane said in the build-up to the season that they will look to make it known that teams won’t leave the Calabash with three points and despite a shaky start to the season, he’s lived up to that promise.

Of the four games played at home, they’ve won three and drawn one game, scoring six goals and conceding one – which came against SuperSport United on Saturday evening.

The Amakhosi mentor admits it’s one of the positives and it’s something they can look to create a foundation from as they head into the FIFA International break with a morale-boosting victory.

“We have to build on something, like I’ve said we’re a work-in-progress, in order for us to get things right we’re going to have to do one thing right,” Zwane said about the home record after the 2-1 win.

“Yes, we’re not going to win all the games but we have to make sure that people understand when they come to FNB, they coming to Kaizer Chiefs to drop points, or to donate points.

“That’s where we should start. We’re not going to fix everything at once but take things one step at a time.”

Reflecting on the game itself, Zwane stated there wasn’t a feeling of a must-win game after a winless run of three games prior to a defeat to Cape Town City and dropping points against AmaZulu and Marumo Gallants this month.

“I would say we played in patches in the first half, but just after conceding it was like a wake-up call, we were then in control, we dominated the midfield, we created a few chances,” Zwane said.

“From there, going into half time it was about making them aware there are certain things they need to improve on that would work for us. We started when the game was more open, to create more chances.

“I think we could have scored another two or three, we were just unfortunate. We want to win every game we play, it wasn’t a must-win for us – every game is a must-win not only this one.”

Chiefs now go into the break in ninth place in the DStv Premiership but could go to tenth should TS Galaxy beat Richards Bay in KZN later on Sunday.
