Mamelodi Sundowns bolstered their already strong defence as they announced the arrival of Bafana Bafana left-back Terrence Mashego.
Mashego joins the star-studded Sundowns team from DStv Premiership rivals Cape Town City.
As reported by FARPost, Mashego landed at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg on Thursday morning, where a Sundowns staff member accompanied him.
The Tshwane giants posted a video on Saturday on social media, looking back at Mashego’s journey from the dusty streets of Mamelodi.

The announcement also ends weeks of speculation as the highly rated defender was also linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs.
Mashego’s contract details at Chloorkop are yet to be revealed, but he joins the likes of Bongani Zungu, Marcelo Allende, Ronwen Williams, Sipho Mbule and Abubeker Nasir as Sundowns latest signing.
The 26-year-old will fight it out for a place in the Sundowns side as he faces tough competition on the left side of the pitch from Sifiso Ngobeni, Lyle Lakay, and Aubrey Modiba.
With Mashego being Bafana’s preferred left-back, coach Hugo Broos will be hoping the talented defender breaks into the Sundowns team and plays regularly.
He is an important member of Broos’ Bafana team as he will be part of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers next year.
Meanwhile, when Sundowns co-coach Rulani Mokwena was asked about Mashego’s imminent arrival a few days ago, he refrained from commenting but stated that they want to bring the best players to the club.
“But we want the best players to be in this team, and we try to recruit the best players when they become available in the market,” said Mokwena.
“We are obligated to our supporters to make sure that we move in that space to make our team as competitive as possible.
“That is why we have Marcelo Allende here, and we beat off a lot of good competition to get him. He has a proven pedigree, and he plays for his national team.
“Imagine the quality and the calibre of players who play for the Chilean national team.”
