Nasty C celebrates 10 years of ‘Bad Hair,’ releases Riky Rick feature

It’s officially been ten years of Bad Hair, the album that changed it all for rapper Nasty C. The star celebrated the tenth anniversary of his debut album and honoured the occasion by officially releasing A Star Is Born, featuring the late musical icon Riky Rick and American poet Omari Hardwick.

Nasty C releases song with Riky Rick

IOL reports that the song featuring the late musician, who died by suicide in 2022, was set to appear on the commercial album but was removed because the necessary samples had not been cleared in time.

As a special gift to fans, the Juice Back hitmaker officially released the song on Audiomack, honouring the memory of where it all started.

He also shared that he would be with his Johannesburg fans at the Bad Hair Salon today, 23 September 2026, at Legends Barbershop in Newtown Junction.

A decade of ‘Bad Hair’

On 23 September 2026, Nasty C made the most significant decision in his career. As the story goes, the then-teenager strategically leaked his debut album on Audiomack, a decision that led to global fame. The album became an overnight success, reaching number one on the South African iTunes chart and becoming the most-streamed South African album on Audiomack within its first 24 hours.

Bad Hair became the beginning of a very successful career for Nasty C. The artist has since gained international recognition, global award nominations, and features with international artists.

The Durban-born rapper has kept steady on the trajectory from his debut album. This past decade was filled with dedication and hard work. He has since released five more studio albums, including Strings and Bling, which was released in 2018. Two years later, he released Zulu Man with Some Power, and I Love It Here in 2023. Free was released in 2025, and this September he released Ts and Cs Apply.
